Jon creates Wetplate Collodion Images using a large format camera, a technique from the 1850s that develops images on blackened steel plates made light-sensitive with silver nitrate. His portraits blend the look of the 1800s with a modern touch.
His passion for photography began in childhood, accompanying his father—a painter who photographed nature for reference. At eleven, he got his first camera, a Pentax K1000, which became his primary tool for early work. Learning alongside his father, he developed essential skills that have shaped his 30-years of photography.
Today, Jon continues his professional photography work, teaches, and offers Wetplate Workshops.
